Default Anyone own a Leupold VXIII Tactical in 3.5-10x40

Like to hear your input. These were made in the early 90's.

I have a 4.5-14x40 with adjustable objective, not quite what your after but does a decent job for what it is.

Scopes have come along way since then so price should be right.

Never knew they made a VX3 Tactical. I agree with JerryD that scopes have come along way since the 90s. I would say with advances in technology some of the 600$ scopes of today perform better than 1200$ scopes from the 90s.

The 3.5-10X40 VX series of scopes from the 90’s were bombproof. Fantastic scopes.

Agree completely. I still have a number of them. Guys say glass has come a long ways but if you put one side by side with today's VX3 scope you will see very little difference in glass quality. They were heavier than the newer ones which I think helps explain why they virtually never failed, even when beat on really hard.

Thanks Chuck.

Thats what I have heard too and a number of Police LE's used them in the lower 48.

I called Leupold and they can even make me a ballistic turret which will be nice to have alongside a MOA Target turret.

Sorry mine is a vari x III with tall capped windage and elevation, and its a black ring, no golden ring.

1" tube. Nice scope.

Either way I doubt you'll go wrong with a quality product like Leupold.
