Default the pike were ON today!!!!

It was a pretty sweet day for pike out at Winagami Lake today. I got set up at about 2:30 and it was consistant and good right til dark. I lost count of how many I landed, and most of them were decent size, only a couple little fellas. A few pics.........

This was my best of the day.

Notice half of this guy's tail fin is missing.

The fish were super aggresive, just hit the bait really hard. They must be feeling pretty scrappy - one I caught had a blind eye, and another had a pretty good chunk taken out of his side.

A really fun day on the lake - can't wait to get out there again!

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!!

many fish get blind eye from ice fisherman that allow a fishes eye to freeze burn from minus air temps or laying a fish so its eye freeze burns to the ice

To tell you the truth, Chubb, I never even thought of that. I always try to respect the fish, and treat them as lightly and gently as possible when they are going to go back in the water, and get them in as quickly as I can. I thought, being as most of the pike I caught were very aggresive, that they were battling each other under the ice, taking body parts off each other! What do you make of the one with half a tail? Fighting, snagged by a hook, genetic???

Good point, no offence taken.
