Default Tyrrell Lake

At one time would hear about lots of people going to Tyrrell Lake and catching a lot of fish and some good size ones. Haven't heard anything in a while, was wondering if the lake has died or just isn't as popular anymore.

Not stocked anymore. Too few fish were caught compared to the 500 000 they used to stock!

in my younger days it was a terrific fishery. the high alkalai(sp) of the soil and water produced rainbows more like salmon...orangest flesh next to a coho. we began seeing more and more pike....then more and more large pike. shortly after that we would pass tyrrell and head for hennigers.(or to sweetgrass to get pizzed)

Am reading from Alberta SRD Fish Stocking map and they show that from 2005-2009 they have stocked between 400000 and 450000 rainbow trout per year. They didn't stock any in 2010. With that number of fish being stocked wonder what happens to them.

Haven't fished it in a couple years, but when i used to fish it It was always hit and miss. We have talked about this a couple months ago actually... I used to go there and fish for 5 hours and get maybe 1 bite, no fish. I have also seen people show up and use the exact same thing I was using, and catch a fish in 15 minutes. I guess you need a ton of luck to expect any fish in that lake.

If I get the chance this year I will be heading down there with a depth map to try my luck and see what I can find.
