No news. Not sure if that's good or not.

Keep sending letters to the gov't though. We need to keep the pressure on.

Stakeholders have recently had a very difficult time in getting in touch with F&W.
It is very alarming how AEP has decided to treat people they invited into the consultation process.

F&W has submitted the 2016 wildlife regulation proposals, which include any changes to sheep hunting. The proposed regulations are now before the legislative standing committee for approval or ammendment, which could happen this week and must happen soon.

Unlike past regulation changes where F&W has been open with telling the stakeholders what they are forwarding to the Minister, this time F&W has decded to be secretive on the matter. Why?

Not a rumour, a hint.

So you figure no changes for 2016 then? Or is that meant to be "A few people will be upset"?

Thx Buffalo

The pow wow with the minister was supposed to happen in early Feb I think it was, but didn't occur till a couple weeks later. With that delay, the new government in power and "bigger fish to fry" I highly doubt anything will occur this year. Maybe next year???

If it is like any other department from the government as of late, expect to be annoyed with the news, provided the changes shortly before they become in effect, and you might be lucky to get an hour or two to provide some feedback that may be considered but not likely due to no time for senior management to view and review before the changes come out. Consultation with the government agencies now is nothing like it was even a year ago. I know nothing with the sheep regs, just posting my 2 cents from other dealings with the government as of late and they have been discouraging.

What I've heard..
2016: No Changes. Not enough time to implement.

2017: North of Brazeau remains 4/5th curl.
South of Brazeau goes fullcurl.

Think full curl south of the Brazeau will push more people into Cadomin and the Willmore? Less people in the southern zones? Or same hunters in the same spots? What happened in 400 in regards to hunter numbers after full curl came into effect? If it results in less hunters total it will be quite the hit to local retailers. Sheep hunters tend to spend big bucks!

That one has been floating around. I've heard it from a few different people.

At the AWSF general meeting in March they stated that they are 99% sure no changes will take place this year. Keep in mind there is still that 1% which NDP has been known to exploit. Ha

AWSF members were able to talk to an associate Shannon Phillips at the Reno sheep show this year (I can't recall the name) and he said Shannon at this point is taking in all the information. They aren't pro full curl, pro splitting the province, pro draw. By the sounds of it they are going to complete their due diligence and collect all the data and information available from all the stakeholders and studies.

Keep in mind this was news March 5 at the general meeting. Hopefully nothing has changed since then.

Keep writing your letters fellas!
