Good morning,

Was looking for some Intel on access west of the bridge off the #507? Looks like mostly private land for the first 6-8 miles. Im guessing just start walking west!!!

Best method is to float it from the falls(raft only) to the rodeo grounds. Be careful and make sure you have a long hand line.

Castle is low low low. Don’t waste your time from 507.

You can’t float the Castle now

She’s way too low.

It's pretty much all private from 507 up to where the Carbondale enters as far as I could tell. I spent some time in that area this year and I did do a pretty good day upstream hike from the 507. However, I still didn't even get close to t wasn't even close to some of the interesting looking places on the map about 7km upstream.

I was down in that area just before the general are Aug 31 closing season (West Castle is still open until Oct 31) and yes the whites and bulls are getting stacked up in the holes for winter already.

As for floating it, how long does it normally take from the falls down to the rodeo on average summer flows? I might want to try it next year (assuming there's no big falls after Castle Falls).

Just got back from a few days up there. Have crossed that bridge too many times to count over the years and finally stopped in on Thursday and gave it a go. Low flow but worth the walk if you put in the time. Like with any bridge access point, you have to walk a mile or two before you get to where the lazy people won't venture. Gaining some private access would be a welcomed bonus if you can get it.

Not a stellar day but a bullie, cuttie, and couple decent rainbows to net. Fish are stacking up in the holes and came across a run that had at least 40-50 whites lined up, maybe the one Bessie is refering to. Highlight was the black bear crossing and splashing in a run about 150 yards up from me.
