Definitely been a work in progress, eh? It's funny watching the new players enter the league and almost immediately get defined by media and fans alike depending on first impressions. We're all guilty of it, hard not to be because nobody has a crystal ball. Horvat was a character guy, 3rd line maaaaybe 2nd line centre with the ability to grind, questionable skater but good leadership potential. Boeser I think we're seeing a transformation as well. The way he started he was the next Henri Richard, goal scorer/sniper extraordinaire. I think both have grown their game considerably, though Boeser's progression was slowed by that injury at the gate.

They got Horvat at 9th overall, the pick they got from the Devils for Cory Schneider. With the departure of Luongo, it left them pretty bereft of goaltending depth for a few years, but it sure looks like a good pickup now. Then again, TB getting our 1st for Miller looks good for Canucks right now too, but a couple injuries to Miller, and a good quality pick by TB might change that perspective down the road as well. For now it looks like a good trade.

Should’ve checked. Thought it was at 8. Anyway, Vancouver fans are a fickle bunch. It was the same with the Sedins, Luongo, even Bure. Bad pick......brutal trade.......etc. For us old guys, these are nothing compared to the Cam Neely trade. Still a fan after that debacle.

Nucks better collect themselves or they will be done before they know it. Blues are on it now.
That said here we go again with the Canadian team steadily headed to the penalty box. Not saying they are not penalties, but Blues are getting away with plenty. Same with the Stars.

"When the going gets tough . .
The Canucks 'go bananas' . . . . "
And yes, I'm a Contrarian Canuck's fan . . . other Canucks fans beg, plead, pray, pay for a team 'win'.
A Contrary Canuck fan knows they'll lie down for a nap in the 2nd period . . . and give the game away. Now, that's a win!

I think Markstrom is going to have to stand on his head tonight for them to have a hope in hell of putting the Blues away. I realize the goalie is just a part of the "team", but if it wasn't for his heroics the other night they would've been blown out. The adjustments the Blues made after game 2 have really put a lid on a lot of the freewheeling offence, the opportunities are still there just a lot less of them. Hard to outscore your mistakes when your chances at the other end are drastically reduced. They'll need him to wear the cape and the big S on his chest again tonight I think, at least if the Blues show up like they have been since game 3.

Not a Canucks fan, but a hockey fan in general. The Juolevi and Virtanen drafts are disappointing, as I feel they're on the cusp of really having something. A top 6 winger and solid d man would go a long way.

I'm not quite ready to give up on Virtanen yet. The kid is good, and shows flashes quite regularly, usually after he's been "motivated" by his coach. To me that shows a real immaturity more than a lack of ability. Granted the NHL is littered with a lot of these types, but my hope is he'll mature into a good solid second line winger. Of course, he may just not have that in him, guess we'll see in the next year or two. At some point you just give up and realize he isn't going to grow up, then deal him for another reclamation project and move on. Juolevi I have no take on, just haven't seen enough of him. IF he can stay healthy, D tend to take a bit longer to develop sometimes. Unless you're Quinn Hughes that is!!

I don't think Virtanen is useless by any means, but I do think that at 5 years into his NHL career, he's probably not going to live up to his draft ranking.

Can't see him being a top 6 player on a decent team, but stranger things have happened.

Vancouver is playing well.

Some young players need to be traded to wake up , Cam Neely was like that.

Ya Baby big win.
Juolevi has had injury problems that have hampered his development. Very unfair to write him off yet. Virtanen is frustrating to say the least.
