That's why because people tell other people on the internet where they're catching them and then nobody's catching them.

The perch are finally moving into the shallows at Sundance Lake in Calgary. Water is warming up. While far fewer they re considerably larger. Gave a five pound bucket of perch to. Buddy who got just a bit over 20% boneless fillets back. Perch are skinnier post spawn.

Biggest was 9.5 inches long. All caught on my new minnow fly or lindy fat boy. Flyrod perching is a challenge as they bite very fast. Still the fly was deadly. Anyone else fly fish for perch?

In calm water I could see perch dart up out of the weeds to hammer the fly. Then bam...back into the weeds.

Very small Chartreuse streamers and Buggers work nice on a sinking line or sink tip. A bit of flash is always good.

It works but not as good as the balanced minnow fly. I make my little streamers with chartreuse and orange thread and chartreuse and orange marabou and rabbit strips as well as chartreuse hackle. May experiment more.

Awesome stuff!!!

As soon as I saw the pics, I guessed in my head it would take 16 posts before someone asked for locations. Wrong.
THAT didn’t take long

Seen some good sized Perch come out of Buck Lake west of Pigeon Lake years ago. Be nice if there were still some left in there.
