Best way to teach your dog is you teach your dog . Hours in will mirror the performance of your dog. I know so many people that send their dogs away and they use their way of teaching and that's it . Every dog is different and if they use a harsh method and you have a timid non bone headed dog you might get back a dog that is just damaged . My advice take it leave it Train him and enjoy the time with your dog it's a lot of fun and you can be that much more proud when people look at your dog and say wow how did you teach him that. Other wise it's like getting someone else to sight in your rifle . My two cents

If I were you, I would be talking with WWBirds from this forum. I know people who have sent their dog and have been extremely happy with the results.

I would look up wwbirds if I wanted to send my dog somewhere to be trained. But as I soon learned, training the trainer is just as important as training the dog, so I decided to join the local NAVHDA chapter, and train the dog myself. I learned as much as the dog, and we both still have a ways to go, but at least the dog has the same person training him all the time, instead of one person training him, and then changing out to a different handler that may use differet methods, which could just confuse the dog.

Smile What kind of dog and how old?

As elk says the best way to train the dog is to train the trainer, that said it is good to have pros around to fix the parts that you can't fix.

If it is a versatile dog there are 2 clubs that you can join, here in Alberta.

Never used him, but we have a small group in the Red Deer area that train together usually once a week once the weather warms up.

If you're interested.. send me a pm.

I agree with this comment
if you don't have the experience join a retriever club
the people there will help you out and give you pointers
it will be beneficial for you and yer dawg,
take in a retriever course , lots of retriever clubs hold them
you will get way more satisfaction out of training yer own dog
as well when you hire a trainer its like giving yer dog away
in the end result is
have you tried ordering another mans dog around???
it just don't work the same

A Few buddies of mine have had dogs Trained by Monty at Ringneck kennels.

Both I have personally seen in action first hand , and are amazing bird dogs. They just listen to commands, and are get retrievers... If I was getting a dog I would likely send him there hands down.
