Default Antelope Taxidermy.

Hey guys and gals, I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll draw my trophy antelope tag this year. I’m looking for suggestions on possible taxidermists. As this would be my first antelope, I’d love to have it mounted. This is of course, IF I’m successful in the draw. And then also lucky enough to fill the tag. I live in Edmonton, and hoping to stay within 100km of the city. Feel free to post pictures of your trophies to show off the Taxidermists work. Thanks in advance.

Brian at artistic taxidermy. He is in Edmonton and does great work. He shouldn't be too busy this year because he won't be getting any exotics because of the travel restrictions. His prices may be a couple hundred dollars more, but you get what you pay for.

I have a mount from trails end taxidermy and another one from game preserve taxidermy. And a few from Brian, the ones from Brian are definitely nicer mounts. Definitely worth the extra bit of money IMO.

These are some mounts brain has done for me the last few years. I also have another mule deer coming. The turn around time on the antelope was about 8 months (sorry for the poor photos)

The sheep is not mine! Brian did the sheep mount for alberta fish and game. I guess it was poached out of a wildlife sanctuary. 197"

Alberta taxidermy is a good taxidermist to deal with and turns out nice antelope.

Maybe give a call to a taxidermist to get some tips on field prep and handling. You can knock alot of hair out of them in a hurry.

Red Wolf Taxidermy. In Morrin AB (15 mins North of Drumheller) You could drop it of on your way home! Less ice and hassle. He does all the work for this Area of Hunters/ guides. Great work and great bang for your buck as he's priced right.

X2 about contacting a taxidermist before hand for tips and tricks! As stated about, you can knock a lot of hair off of them. And if you leave blood on the white fur, there is a good chance it may stain.

There are lots of videos online regarding meat handling too. If you handle them right and get the hide off soon, the meat is really really good!

I hope you get your draw. They are cool critters

Shoot lope, skin right away.
Meat on ice.
I use 2l pop bottles water -freeze.

Sweater on bottom of cooler to suck uo moisture and 2 L bottles on too(cold air drops).

Get it to Sugarcreek taxidermy as fast as possible. Maybe 129kms from you but close enough.

Whatever you chose, pics please.

Default Sugar Creek

I would recommend Sugar Creek in Red Deer. He did mine and I’m very pleased with the results. The ears, eyes, nose and mouth are done perfectly in my opinion.

I would suggest Mr. Curtis Fisher of SilverWillow Taxidermy near Cadogan, as he does superb work. It may be a little further but worth the drive. He did my dad’s and his friends and both are excellent. His prices are fair and he is great to deal with. You can also check his work out on-line.

If your shopping around, stop in and meet Darren and his wife, have a look at their showroom. You won't be disappointed with their work. They did my sons first moose, a 54 incher. Super nice people, great work.

If you're OK with a Calgary taxidermist, Bruin Taxidermy hands down. My goat is a perfect mount.

Brian Dobson did both my antelope, wall pedestal. If he isn’t too busy get him to do it you won’t be sorry.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. Unfortunately, I didn’t draw the tag this year. ☹️

There are a few good taxidermists out there. I had an Antelope done by Marco at Sugar Creek and I couldn’t be happier.
