Sure, just what is needed, lets create a giant petri dish and see how that turns out for our province.

Pretty sure it’s canceled and honestly canceling the stampede I can at least see the logic. It does create a lot of close contact with people and people from all over congratulating in one area

They have closed down activities that are much lower risk so I can’t see the stampede happening without a miracle change in the Covid19 situation

Well since Spain canceled the running of the bulls I think we will end up cancelling as well. The event isn't really viable if just the locals attend.

Not even a snowballs chance. I wrote it off weeks ago.

Carnies are the most hygienic people, they'd do a fantastic job of wiping the rides down. Said nobody, ever.

On those circular rides with the loud music you'd be travelling into the spittle from the people multiple cars in front of you. A virtual Covid-19 blender

Your right that it would be an "enormous hit" ... if they were to run a Huge event like the Stampede this summer, it could possibly 'Triple' Alberta's COVID-19 infection rate ❗

I'm certain is won't go. I know they cancelled the folk festival in Edmonton too.

Likely for the best, too many people in close quarters, and the workers pack up and move to the next city.... taking everything with them.

Nope. Toast.

Edmonton’s Folk Fest was officially cancelled. It’s not the same scale as Calgary Stampede but still an event with large crowds. John Prine was supposed to play at the Folk Fest. Now there is some sad irony right there..

Not a chance. The only thing that might happen is chuckwagons. No spectators, just racing for cash and tv. JMHO.

Just wait till the feds and province start trying to pay for all the hand outs they are currently putting on our "credit card"! Any losses from the stampede won't even be noticed. By the time people start to figure it out, the turd will probably be into his third and hopefully final term. No doubt, he will have pressing matters at the UN requiring his immediate attention. That will leave some poor unwitting politician to attempt picking up the pieces of financial carnage currently being created! 9 billion for students?? They're in for some kind of shock when they start paying that tab, assuming they can find a job somewhere other than micky dee's.

Seriously can't see the stampede happening! Way too much potential for disaster!

It's a no go for the Stampede. Calgary has enough on its hands battling COVID these days. The Stampede is the ultimate social affair, how does that happen in these trying times.

I splurged and bought some good tickets for the rodeo... and now that my work schedule is changing, I dont think I would have been able to use them. I seriously doubt it will go ahead.

I was talking with one of the rodeo contestants last night, it hasn’t been cancelled, but he has serious doubts about it going ahead.

Doubt it’s happening, probably a good thing, if it did go ahead we’d probably find out if this virus was also sexually transmitted, probably don’t need to find that out.

Not sure how it works but aren't some of the earlier rodeos like qualifying events leading up to the Calgary Stampede? Most of the earlier ones have been canceled.

Stampede has become a purely invitational rodeo . The Stampede decides how people quality and who gets to compete. They can invite anyone they want. They make the rules.

When 99% of the Stampede employees have been laid off, its pretty much impossible to have a rodeo.

We will all know this afternoon for sure.

They are holding a presser to announce its cancellation @ 3:00.

This summer is going to SUCK!

At least they are talking of firing up the NHL again to a closed audience.

I'LL TAKE IT!!!

From what I've heard over the years it's an event that runs on a circuit. You make it so far with wins and the money rounds and your invite is there. Just like riding Bulls, Saddle, Bare, Barrel and countless others. Your wins in certain major events help get you there. Probably wrong but that's what I heard. An invite is big but without priors???? Who knows. Don't think it's going to happen without the pre-events.

I think this a pretty much garuntee to be closed. I can’t even believe people would question it at this point or begin to speculate.
