Default Lac la Biche area Landowners

Hi As much as this is a long shot I figured it would be worth the try !

We are a husband and wife new to the Lac la biche area , we are building a house there. First year hunting in the area! We have heard lots about guides having a lot of rights to the lands but if there are any landowners in the area that would be nice enough to give us permission to hunt and help us fill the freezer we would be so appreciative
Please PM me

Maybe knock on doors in June like everyone else? What is this new phenomenon with people asking for anonymous permission online?

^ Is this old phenomenon with people commenting when they aren't addressed ever going to end?

Lots of landowners willing to give permission. Just got to knock on doors and ask. As another poster said, lots of crown land as well.

Hello op I’m a Llb resident. Where about are you hunting ? If it’s close to my farm I can give you a hand pulling a moose from the bush

I would recommend getting a county "landowners map" They might have it on the county website in .pdf format. If not, they probably sell a hard copy at the office.

This will list ownership of all land (including crown land) and show homesteads as well. I have one for the county I hunt in on the western edge of Alberta and another for my home county. Local one is online in .pdf so I just print out the sections I'm interested in. The other one I had to buy at the county office and is a hard copy.

In any case, I've made great use out of both and popped in to ask landowners many times for permission. Mostly I've received it.

When I do receive permission, I always ask about driving on the land. Some say, "only when retrieving game" and others have said, "I'd rather you didn't so if you need a hand getting something big out, just pop over and we'll use my quad" Lots of people will allow it if the ground is firm and dry and there are no crops on the field. Always, always, always ask.........don't assume.

A local landowner recently sold a bunch of his land. People he'd given permission to in the past (the types who assume since he said "yes' in 2010 they have carte blanche to just hunt there every year without reconfirming permission) are getting busted for hunting without permission as the new landowner doesn't allow it (makes me LOL). So remember to confirm your permission, and ownership, every year before season too!

The iHunter AB app is your friend mate. It is like $10 for the app and subscription for land info, however, makes it super easy to see where you can and cannot hunt/target shoot. Has agricultural lease land mapped with their owner's information. If you go north you are free to hunt as its Crown Land.

Lac la Biche Winter Road/Trail can be a good place for hunting. However, I was there back in late Oct, but, it was wet and miserable ended up high centering the truck in a mud hole. If you're convoying, have an ATV, or a winch you should be fine.

Makes me laugh when someone asks people to give them info on hunting permission. So I'm supposed to do all the leg work to develop landowner relations so I can just freely give it away to someone I don't even know? Human behavior absolutely fascinates me to the point of complete embarrassment. LMAO

I’m in the area. Lots around the north side if the lake, ut I can’t comment for south of town or between LLB and Plamondon.

On a side note, I drove the LLB winter road to Conklin in early November last year. It wasn’t frozen at that time and shouldn’t be tried in just any stock truck. I came from the LLB side and there were no barriers or signs on that side but the other end was blocked off with saw horses and signage denoting the road as being closed. I just barely made it through in a Power Wagon with locked axles and new 35” tires. I never had to winch but it was close a couple times and I think I was lucky to make it through. High range, axles lock, sway bar disconnected and foot to the floor. It was a wild ride.

I thought there were signs to that effect? LLB Co maintains the portion within the county; RMWB doesn’t maintain theirs.

I never saw anything on the LLB end. I could have possibly missed a sign but I didn’t drive around a barricade like what was placed on the Conklin end.

Thanks for you very insightful second comment on the board on a 3 year old thread. I see that we'll get lots of informative and useful comments from you in the future.

Sorry my bad, but drives me crazy when people ask for someone to hold their hand and lead them to their honey holes. Again my apologies.

If you actually paid attention to what the OP was asking it wasn't for Someone's favourite secret "honey hole" but if some of us are landowners and if the could give permission to access the land we own.

Also after three years of living up there it is a pretty good assumption that they have found crown land and some deeded land to hunt on.
Oh, and welcome back to AO!
