My father and I are going into 522 for cow elk in a few days.
Your situation sounds very similar to ours.
We lived in northern bc for many years and have just started hunting again in the past couple of years (deer).
We have never hunted elk before and to be honest I think it will take a lot of luck for us to be successful.
We have checked out a couple of areas (leased land just south of the peace river) on a quick over night trip this summer.
We only have a few solid days available to us (I have 2 young kids).
I’m lucky to have even this small amount of time so hppefully at the very least
we can learn a thing or two.
Reading your story gives me a little hope that we might see game.
Steve
