Default 8 yo boy dies while firing an uzi

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081027/...shoots_himself

I just heard about this, and was outraged! Such a sad story. I cannot believe it is fully legal for a child to fire a weapon such as this in a controlled firing range with no experience/training necessary. Are our laws similar to this?

Fully automatic firearms are 100% prohibited (read: illegal to the public) in Canada. That being said, there is nothing stopping an 8 year old from firing a hunting rifle, or shot gun or hand gun if they are under proper licensed supervision. As with many things in life it comes down to common sense. Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD. You can't create laws to protect every dummy in the world, nor should we.
