Its here on my home quarter in the north. I imagine his other ear has a tag in it, I'm just not sure which neighbor he belongs too. He does look tasty doesn't he?

Actually folks, its pretty common!!
Last few years I have seen cows, bulls and calves north of Hanmore Lake towards the Thorhild Grazing Reserve. Trouble was I had a moose in the freezer and really no good reason to drop a Bison.
Couple of stories where they are coming from. First, there was a Bison farmer near Boyle that went broke and alot of his animals "escaped". Second, the Bison which were coralled for a ederal quarantine at Saddle Lake Indian Reserve somehow "knocked over the fence" before the Vets arrived to check the herd.
Anyhow, they are not "protected" between Hanmore lake and Boyle, but they are there. A few have the odd ear tag, most do not.
All the same, they have taken root pretty good up there. F & W knows about it as well.

Interesting for sure! When Da Jimmer and I were out for antelope we saw two bulls just off hwy 36 on the north side of the river no evidence of what I would call Bison fence It made me wonder, now even more so maybe I should have investigated more as I had permmision for the property could have saved a trip to Zama in Jan / Feb

We had SRD come out to our Fish & Game club in Sept to answer questions from the guys. We got talking about the bison hunt. I asked about still being able to pop a bison anywhere else as we could do prior to the draw hunt. The answer was that now that there is a draw season for bison that they are considered to be wildlife and cannot be hunted out of season.
So basically since we now have the one hunt up north, bison anywhere else in the province cannnot be hunted.
Check it out with your local SRD if you like.

I talked with srd in high level on Thursday they say no problem east of 35. Talked also with Marcus , who heads up the Bison hot line. I asked him if he would like some samples if my group gets lucky in March. He is sending me down a kit. Again it is still wide open east of the 35.
