Default Beretta A400 Extreme

One helluva deal on just about the best semi-auto in the under $3000k range.

$1647.77

https://www.dantesports.com/en/shop/...-grass-blades/

$2249.99 at Cabelas--just waiting to hear if they will price match.

Was looking for a gently used A300 for a back up, but this was just too good to pass up. Absolutely love it--cycles everything from 2-3/4"--#7.5 to 3.5"--BBB--the best shotgun I have ever used or had.

They have the black model on at under $1400.

Bashaw Sports had the Camo on for $1539, but they sold out quick.

I bought the black one. Was supposed to be delivered today, but alas it wasn't. I sold my SBE2 after one season. Nice gun, but too many Benelli "clicks" for my liking. When you are in your 50s, on your back in a Chinese Torture Chamber (aka layout blind), it is hard to always get a consistent mount. I bet I went to pull the trigger 5x last fall and nothing happened. Thankfully, Elk would usually drop enough for both of us. LOL.

Be aware you’re not comparing apples to apples... Cabelas is selling the new A400 Extreme “Plus”. Beretta recently rolled out the new “Plus” model which features some imporovements/mods from the older A400 Extreme. Looks like these stores are just cleaning out the old inventory as the new “Plus” models are arriving.

Check out The Gun Dealer down east, they have the A400 Extreme in black with kick off and hard case for $1398

If you don't need the supposed improvements, why not save $600? Personally, I am not a fan of stepped ribs, so I prefer the older A400.

I agree 100%... I have had the A400 Extreme for a number of years and love it.

Just thought the OP should know why Cabelas is not likely to price match.

They wouldn't.

I don’t get the price match thing. Why not just deal with the store that stepped up to the plate to begin with?

I am pretty sure Cabelas has a 30 day window where they will handle any defects in the gun. That would be enough for me. Secondly, the OP doesn't have to wait if they want it. I just received an A400 that was at a great price, but came from Dante's in Montreal. Took 9 days to get here. If I could have gotten it locally, you can damn sure know I would have. Not that I expect anything to go wrong with it, but shipping to and from Quebec is a pain in the arse if I had to do it. Further, I have no problem supporting a big box store like Cabelas. They have great customer service, stand behind their products, and employ a boatload of people who pay taxes in the city and province I live in, and even give my special needs students work experience placements. Damn straight, I will try and get a local store to price match. The only store I have any allegiance to at all above Cabelas would be Prophet River, as I know the owner, and they could not get the gun I wanted anyhow as it is "old stock", just like the one the OP was looking for. Once they are gone, they are gone. Nothing wrong with consumer looking out for themselves, and trying to get your preferred store to price match.

I can understand why people want a local dealer to price match, you save on shipping, and can deal face to face if there are issues. That being said, if both businesses are local, I will not ask for price matching. Then again, I do not always shop based solely on price, I have paid a bit more to deal with certain dealers, or to avoid dealing with others.

Both Dante and Al Flaherty are sponsors of one of the sites we all know and most use. You are playing right into the big box store’s hands squeezing every penny out of legitimate business. I deal with smaller stores and site sponsors first and don’t mind paying a little more. I do make them well aware of internet pricing and will not be taken advantage of.

I am not anti Cabelas but the elimination of WSS and the merger with Basspro shows exactly what the plan is for the future. The ability to stock less product at higher prices. All they need is a few more people to fall in line and eliminate the competition.

I found the OP a great deal on an A400 last year with free shipping from one of our site sponsors and he took the information to Cabelas for a price match. The sponsor had bought extra inventory, offered the best price in Canada and paid out good money to advertise and support us. His reward was no sale.

It is never a bad idea to shop around and I do like some of the Cabelas branded products. I just never felt the urge to go running in there and give them extra opportunities to stomp out the little guys for a few pennies, especially when the little guy is doing everything right.

I live in Edmonton. You don't. If you did, my guess is you would go to Cabelas more often. Also, WSS was a corporation too. Whenever I can, I buy from Prophet River, an AO sponsor.

Like I mentioned, I am in no way anti Cabelas. If they have a sale on or offer an exclusive product, I will be first in line. They have a business plan and seem to be doing fine. It’s The price match thing I don’t get and giving them extra business opportunities in spite of the little guys that sponsor our sites.

I'm a 5 minute drive from Cabelas and sitting on $1000 worth of gift cards(the 20% off ones ). Although big box, they have always done right by me, and will continue to get my business. Even if Dantes is a smaller mom and pop operation, I would prefer to support local employees.

The gift cards I get. My brother sends them every year although I haven’t cashed last years yet.

Back to the A400, I have read that the internals of the A350 are identical to the A400. I have never stripped one down but there seems to be a consensus on the southern forums that the A350 is the best value in the Beretta line up. Cabelas had them on sale for $1250 IIRC and for a back up gun it should shoot the same with maybe a bit less refinement.

Forget about Cabela's & buy from Canadian stores
The A400 is a great gun just like 99% of beretta' guns.

Good luck!

I won an A350 Extreme (Plus?) In a raffle. As far as I can and have read, it is everything the A400 Extreme is except it does not have the recoiling buttstock nor the padded comb. I think this one I won is the Plus because it has the oversized bolt handle and bolt release.

I kinda want the A400, but am not sure it is economical to up grade. I have not fired the A350 yet.

On the Beretta website it did not list different barrel options for the A350, but as the operating system is the same as the A400, then A400 barrels should work.

The A350 is all camo, but then they put extended chokes (it either comes with 2 or 1) that are chromed. Seems stupid to camo a gun and then on the end that moves the most put on a flashy object.

If you look at the same dealer Dante, the black A350 is on sale for about $20 less than the black A400, for $20, I will take the A400 every time. However, it looks as though the black A400 is now sold out. The camo A400 is about $150 more than the camo A350, so the difference is larger, but still not huge. Bashaw Sports had the camo A400 on for $1539 or about $40 more than Dante has the A350 camo on for, but they are now sold out. Once the old A400s are sold out, the A350 will be a good option to save money, but the people that are taking advantage of the sales on the A400s, are getting a great bargain. I should be hearing more shooting from the blind beside me next fall, and less complaints about the Benelli click.

The A350 was on in a couple of stores for $1250 lately but I would go a few hundred more for the A400 as well. For a back up or loaner, like the OP suggests, the A350 might be the best choice.

The best deal I have seen is on the demo models and the lite model A400s at 1299.

Could always swing it like a bat?

Have run muddy/snowy shells through my A400--worked perfect--she got a good cleaning mind you after, but brought down two more geese.

And it likely just gets more frustrating when you see birds falling in front of you, to the guys with the cheaper shotguns..

OK. You guys pushed me over the edge. I will be ordering the black A400 from Dante.

What should I price my A350 for? Anyone want a backup?

Never had my Benelli fail/click
Only problem I’ve ever had was I lost the bolt handle when I dropped it in the mud
Didn’t even miss fire after that

You are one of the lucky ones I guess. I wasn't. Google it. It's a thing.
