Default Hermitage Pond? Stocked...or suspended?

So Hermitage is on the ACA list of stocked ponds.

First dumb question:

Which pond? I'm here, literally right now, there are like 3 ponds. Obviously, I'll do some exploring, looking for risers and other fisherman. Lol

Slightly less dumb question:

No signs of fish. I remember with Whirling disease, I thought they suspended stocking of Hermitage pond(s) and the one in Fort Sask. because of both ponds' proximity to the river.

Is this still true? Am I wasting my time on a fishless pond?

Did a search on the forum, doesn't seem to be much recent info.

Appreciate any advice or updated info!

The big pond is the one that is stocked but there were some trout in the medium sized one several years ago. A few years ago they did suspend the stocking at Hermitage and I have not heard of them stocking it this year. There were some signs around the drive in last time I was there but that was last fall. If you want fish your better off trying at the river.

Default I can answer my own question

Well, that was nice! Ran into the great Barry White.

Found the fish pond.
And it has been stocked. With a handful of browns and a good pile of rainbows.
Plenty of fishermen!

Default Found the ACA website

Of course, I could have been a little less lazy and checked the ACA's website:

Hate to be so cynical but once the usual bucket brigade from the past finds out its stocked again it will be fished out in a month like usual. Seen it back when it was being stocked before.

Shame cause its a nice little spot to bring the kiddies to learn at. Should be a two or maybe one fish keeper pond IMHO.

Well, your cynicism is likely well founded.

What the city needs is a couple of ponds; one for kids and people that want their 5 fish, bait allowed and no size limit, and one for people that would like to keep a decent fish or 2. I'm not talking about a fully specially managed lake like Muir (although that would be nice...) but I am saying something along the lines of only 2 fish per day and minimum size of 30cm.

My experience with that pond is people like eating 6 inch trout from there.

But it is a good local place for practicing fly fishing casting.

Why? They wont last the winter so at best they might reach 9" IF they dont end up in a 10 gallon pail.

99% of the folks that end up catching one wont know the difference between them and the rainbows either.

Diversifying species for a fishing population that is mostly there for a free meal is a waste of resources. It's more expensive to raise browns that the garden variety rainbows. Put them somewhere else where folks have ASKED for diversification.

Anyway, if you are targeting them there they will be within 10 ft of shore most times. People always cast so far from shore at those ponds but those browns love the shoreline. Evenings....tight to shore if you want to catch one.

Just my opinion. Regardless if they die off during winter it atleast offers people a little bit more diversification. Its perfect for me has I pass the little pond on my way home from work. I can get a quick fix in while also adding a little bit of challenge of catching a brown. At 300 Browns that were stocked at an extra dollar per fish. I say the diversification is well worth it. Browns also grow so fast i'm sure 9" is not give it enough credit. I definitely appreciate your insight and your point of view as well.

I was stopping by the pond tonight, thats why I searched up hermitage in the forum.
