Glad they finally charged and convicted someone.
I am glad they did to make an example, but they need another 100 high profile convictions of public lands abusers before people start to get the message.
The funny thing is, lack of resources is always used as an excuse for lack of enforcement personnel, but if the fines went to pay for the officers it would be no cost to Alberta.

Hmmmm May long... trying to drive a truck with a camper on it across a raging stream in prime run-off.
Clearly, he was HAMMERED.

Serves him right. $2,000 fine for pulling a bone head stunt like that doesn't bother me at all. I wonder if he blew the engine in the truck on top of it all.

Clearly he wasn't thinking. It would really surprise me to find out that he knew he was breaking any laws. So many people think that laws end where the pavement does.

I really think we undervalue our environment. People so so much damage and they pay very little for it... how many fish eggs did he kill? If he kept that many adult fish I bet it would have been a larger fine. Idiotic people really bother me.

How was he going to get up the bank on the other side???

Kudos to him for trying to advance the fishing technique of "4x4 stream trolling"

If you open the link and click "story" over the photo, you can read the writeup. Apparently, Jessie didn't have a clue from the start and he is from Ontario so hopefully no one will make any 'Alberta Redneck' comments.

Actually, you would not believe the number of people who think because they have a 4x4 they safe to drive faster... it is never the speed that hurts them... its the stop.

Somehow, I doubt he'd get better treatment at home. Probably a larger fine. Fn Ontario Redneck.

Should be at least that much. And I expect he had to pay a fair bit, in terms of recovery costs, as well.

I found it interesting in the article where they said there are only 5000 adult west slope cutthroat trout in Alberta. Kinda like the 500 grizzly bears. Who comes up with these numbers?

Anyway how would they know how diluted these stocks are compared to the original native fish stocks. They don't have a dna data base of the original fish from the days before stream stocking to compare with.. They are only guessing and speculating. Kinda like 'wild' steelhead in BC, as long as the adipose fin isn't clipped they call it wild even if it is nothing but offspring of hatchery fish.
