Bear spray $$$$
I can't believe the prices for spray. It is robbery at the tills. It seems like anything sportsmen use is a license to steal by the sporting industry.

I dont consider 40-50$ for a can that should be replaced every 2 years a bad investment. Thats just me though. Of course I'd prefer a cheaper price tag, but what it costs right now wont stop me from buying a can.

Bear spray is on at camofire.com right this second for 24.99 a can, I just bought two for next season as mine will expire. There is 12 dollars shipping but if you buy two or more it's still a good deal

Its the same with any hobby or specialised line. Costs an arm and a leg for an essential (and usually consumable) product.
Edit: oops, meant op for qoute.

How big a can are you looking at? There's several sizes and 40-50$ for one of the larger sizes wouldn't be that bad a price at all! Either way I guess you have to look at it like this, How much is your life worth to YOU? If 50$ or 500$ saved my life I'd definitely think that either was a good investment!

Point is we are being charged way to much compared to any other aerosol spray.

Maybe pricey, but then why hasn't competition brought the price down? Some things are just expensive to produce, not to mention relative market size.
FWIW, best prices I've seen on bear spray are Mountain Equipment Coop.
Bonus points for wearing your bloodied Mossy Oak while doing it.

Maybe.
Maybe there are additional costs associated with designing and producing a spray liquid and and aerosol spray mechanism that absolutely cannot fail.
Raid probably wouldn't get hit with a multi-million dollar lawsuit if one of their cans failed to operate correctly. Right?
