Where were these guys hiding last fall?
Not an amazing pic but all nice bulls. Seen several large herds on my way home from work this morning but these guys caught my attention

Wherever there is a good sized chunk of no hunting land in the general area, elk seem to know where they’re safe

1 of my 2 favorite species to hunt. In spite of learning a lot about their habits over the years they never cease to amaze me with how elusive they can be when pressured.
Thanks for posting the picture

I was surprised as well. West of Calgary around Hwy 22. Seen a few other smaller ones as well still wearing head gear in other herds.

I shed hunt for elk every year down south. I have found bachelor bulls in late April still had antlers attached.

That would explain how I can put on 4 miles of following game trails and not find a single shed.

Nice pic, obviously you can't shoot there but I bet if it was hunting season they wouldn't stand that nice. Whenever I see elk there doing 90 and all I see is butts.

Where I go looking it's the same. I started recording the dates I have seen elk with antlers and they usually start to drop very late april and into May where I look.
