Default Road Report for Calgary to Radium

Has anyone been to Radium in the last week? Just wanting a hwy update on HWY 93. BC report says hard packed snow with no visible road. Any report would be greatly appreciated.

Call the radium info center in the morning the may be able to help.
Raining and blowing in the main Radium valley right now could be snow
higher up on the summit calling for snow tonight and tomorrow.

Check out these links to Alberta and BC highway cameras for the most current information. A picture is worth a 1000 words.

No tip to offer...Just be glad it's not 1927. The road in the pic is between Banff and Golden is now the Transcanada No. 1 highway. Not sure how they passed eachother. I think the No.1 highway west of Calgary was paved around 1939.

Just spent a week working outside invermere.
Drove a rear wheel drive cargo van loaded to the hilt.
The first 20 min early on the 93 off the trans can was not great with about 4" of slushy snow and ice underneath. About 60-70k through there, the whole trip never really had any clear roads but did ok and arrived safe and sound.
On the trip home in the worst part of the road had a ford ranger pass us through the slush and really crappy road and nearly side swiped us, maybe inches from the van.
I wouldn't have a problem doing the drive in a better vehicle than the work van.
You will be fine.

This thread brought back bad memories of a night spent snowed in along a creek on that road in a 2 wheel drive Mini-Van in 1991.

Learned the value of packing emergency food and water and blankets.

Was a looooong night

Last weekend the road was very good, even on the high passes - snow but tracks all the way down to asphalt. In the valleys (which cover most of the distance) - everything was just perfectly bare.

Just drove it, no problem. Bit of snow here and there.
