Default Wow. Lynx hunting video

This is one in a lifetime chance to close up see Alberta's wildlife at it's best. I like that the lynx were hunting together. Almost like a safari...only Alberta style. Thanks to Tyler for the video.

Nice video. A friend saw a lynx take down a deer a few years back in the Lake Louise area. That would have been something to see.

Did not know they hunted in packs like that, interesting.
I wonder it the cats were all family, kinda like a lion pride.

Dunno if they actually hunt in packs as a habit, but it may be that the ones in the bush were Young ones.
Pretty explosive acceleration on that cat inn the road!

I would think so. Most likely siblings maybe with one cat being the momma.

Default Another cool lynx video

Saw this video today and thought I would share it. Seems like the lynx population cycle is at the top of the cycle. Lynx populations usually peak a year after the rabbit cycle peaks. The video was taken in Alaska.

I know we are at top of lynx cycle on our line, tracks on almost every cutline. A young oil worker that services wells on South end of our line commented the other day. He said never saw a single marten in last 2 years, but seen 12 lynx so far this year.

Aiways cool to see these cats in the wild.
Last ones I seen where in BC near Fishpot Lake playing on the FS Road (5) and another on the side of another FSR where is was sunning itself with its face into the wind.
Rolled up about 8 feet away and the cat didnt move until I shut the truck off where upon it turned its head towards me with eyes wide open.
Didnt have my camera handy at the time and long before the advent of a Smart Phone and FB
Thanks for sharing the cool video.
Rob
