Default Expectations Lac La Biche Area

I'm headed up north this next week for a solid week of hunting Northern whitetails. I've done my research and friends have gone up to 503 and 515 and done well. I'm not looking for specific spots but more of what I can expect. My problem is I'm not much of a whitetail hunter, born and raised an elk hunter, so the sitting game is really tough for me.

What can I expect up there as far as hunting strategies, size of deer. I've been told that rattling and calling works great as well as the standards of sitting and pushes. I'm also not afraid to get off the beaten path. I've been putting an average of 25-30 km on my boots a day while hunting elk for the last 2 weeks.

Is the crown land in 515 worth putting time into? Should we concentrate on getting permission from the land owners?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I love hunting bush country whitetails up there a lot more than private land. Some of the fringe land is great and sitting in cutblocks and cutlines can be VERY productive on big norhtern bucks.....

I personally think sitting all day long is a really good option for bucks this time of year. Bring a book and a comfy chair and you should see plenty of deer and have some good opportunities....
