Default Sad day

On my way to work today I made a quick loop thru my favorite deer areas only to find a 5x5 bull elk that someone shot this morning and left behind. Makes me sick to think that there are people out there that would shoot an animal with no intent on tagging it and leave it there to thrash around till a local farmer dispatched it with a shot to the back of the head. Bull was legal in this zone. So to the shooter who shot this bull with his or her 308 Win, I hope they track you down and you get what you deserve.

It sure sucks to see something like that to ruin a nice day outdoors. Hope you reported it. If it was only shot this morning i wonder if they will be back??? Could a good reason for a stakeout tonight by our fish and wildlife authorities??

Call F and G asap. I take it that you found the casing if you know that it's a 308. win. Make sure you are able to get that to F and G or it may have been beter if left alone as evidence.

I called report a poacher right away. Stayed on site till they arrived. Did a statement up everything. I got to the site at 753 this morning. Elk was dead then, farmer said he shot it about 745 am this morning to kill it. No one was there when I got there. Yes F+W found the shell casing on the road and the fresh footy prints of those who had shot.

I agree. Wouldn't it be nice if they started pulling guys over in the region and compairing boots to see who's tread matches the ones found at the kill site. We can only hope, Job well done on John AB's part!

Man there are some idiots out there. What a terrible waste of an animal. Good for you for calling and then sticking around.

If they ever charge anybody post his name on here.

Something like that is not above the actions of the animal rights groups ,to give hunters a bad name.
l,d check the local newspapers and media outlets to see if they got any calls about it or pics mailed to them etc , by the culprits.
They like to put the pics out to the public , and blame us.
