Default Anyone here grow tobacco?

So I decided to grow tobacco and peppers this year since it looked like it would have been a good year. I had a few nice tobacco plants but had to harvest quick since the frost would have killed off my plants. I grew some Tiburon peppers but only had 2 peppers to harvest as I started late.

If anyone grows their own tobacco, which varieties?

I grew some Burley, Virgina and some Polish one. They are curing as we speak for another 4 months.

Don't know what kind of tobacco I grew but I got seeds from a member on here. It grew real good but I got over zealous and dried the leaves in the dehyradator. Sparked that up and I'm sure my buddy in Bella Bella heard me coughing and gagging around the yard. Lol

My dad grew up growing it.

I know they would set up irrigation lines and misters to save the crop from frost until it was time to harvest the last of it. I always thought that was neat.

My wife grew up on a tobacco farm, Tilsonburg coincidentally. Stompin Tom got it right. Neat is not the proper description.

I’m sure chewing it would be better then smoking what I had going on. I don’t know what I could compare it to. Lol. It does grow good though. Probably better then dandelions. Was figuring on growing a couple of acres of it but fml that first puff almost put me in the ground. Wish I had some left for you to try chewing to see what kinda show you put on. If it chews like it smokes you’ll be better off with a dried up dog turd. Probably better for you to. Lol

The longer the cure the sweeter the tobacco.

Try mixing some tobacco leaf with the dried inner bark of a willow and dried bear berry leaves for smoking in a pipe.
