Default Free range camping in nordegg

I'm looking for a great free range camping (no campground bull****) in nordegg alberta where you can basically drive off the road and camp. A nice view of the mountains and maybe a river close by would be nice. It would also be nice if i received gps coordinates.

Bighorn dam west of nordegg or the trunk road. Pack out what you pack in and have fun!

Alot of the free-range campers seem to like spots north up the trunk road.
You have the fish ponds just a few kms up the trunk road. Another spot is at the the Blackstone River bridge or you could go up the trunk to about km 15 then west onto the Chungo road, there's some nice areas in there as well.

Good advice.Beautiful area. I heard Trans Alta are doing a major maintenence job on the Dam. They are going to shut off some of the areas around the Dam and equipment.

Dick 284 could probably advise on that.

There's gonna be a generator overhaul, but it does not effect access to areas frequented by the public.

Heed the signage and be respectful, easy eh!

It's not far off the main highway to the Parks, but you can camp by the yellow bridge crossing the N. Sask river.

This area is gorgeous, and easily accessible. Unfortunately, this is common knowledge, and the number of people there reflect that. If you can deal with some crouds, by all means, head over that way, it's beautiful country.

I have travelled the forestry road over the corkscrew mtn up to Nordegg on a long weekend and saw several off road camping. Wherever there was a open spot off the road there were tents and RVs. Probably because the campgrounds were full.

Lots of good spots if you head up towards Blackstone.

If your heading west take your first left after Nordegg and follow the road down, just past the river to the left you will find a good camp sight. If I recall it just borders a no gun zone so I would check into it further if you plan on playing. Have fun !
