And as a non resident you can only draw a moose tag in certain wmu zones. When I was living out of province I was unable to hunt moose on my family's property because of this. It's not a huge deal, but it is something to check out in the regs if you are planning a moose hunt

Default Thanks Guys

Quote from the regs...
A Non-resident (Canadian) must apply with a resident (maximum of 1 non-resident per resident)

How do I apply with a Resident?

Do I list him as a Hunter host and not add him to the Draw?
He just wants Me to get my moose with his help.
thanks

You can’t apply for a draw by yourself as a nonresident, so if you apply with a resident the lowest priority between the two of you is what you BOTH go into the draw with. So if you are 13 and he is 15, your group is a P13... if you are 13 and he is 7, your group is a P7.

He has to host you AND you both have to put into the draw together, unless you can enter the draw with someone else.... then he can still host you. Regardless you must enter the draw with a resident.

what are you talking about? There are no WMU restrictions for non residents for moose draws.

A Non-Resident (Canadian) is limited on which areas they can apply for Antlered Moose. Nothing in the 100 zones, or 400 zones south of the bow essentially.

You will notice there are different sections in the draws for residents and non-residents.

Well, a guy should learn something new every day. I have never noticed that to be honest.

No worries, I didn't know about it either until I put in the draw as a non-resident a couple of years ago.

But, if people are wanting to hunter host their buddies it is something they should be aware of.

There is restrictions for non residents in certain WMU’s. Try to draw one in a 200 zone. It will not happen. Pretty sure it’s the 300, 400 and 500 zones.

I think it is a step in the right direction. People might be upset that they have to pay for priority, but so do non residents and anti hunters now. If the funds actually go back into conservation, I don't believe it is a bad thing.

Now we need residency verification. In Saskatchewan the draw system is connected to the health services system. If you do not have a Saskatchewan health care number the system will not let you enter draws or purchase tags as a resident. It would be nice if we did something similar.

I think this is the year I burn all of my Grizzly Bear points up. Due to draw for sure, and have the time. Sure thankful I'm not one of the 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000001 % of Albertans that got sick.

Having to buy the wildlife certificate is purely to give them a bump in revenue and I'm all good with that.

how incredibly narrow minded.... THEY WOULD HAVE SOLD IT ANYWAYS WHEN YOU PURCHASED YOUR TAGS!!!! THIS ONLY FORCES THE ANTI HUNTERS WHO APPLIED FOR THE TAGS BUT DIDNT PURCHASE THEM.

I found www.albertahuntmap.ca today. One of the best presentations of the draw info I've found. Makes it really easy to figure out what your priority levels make you eligible for. They only have WT, mulie, elk and moose, but it's better than nothing. Should be helpful for deciding what draws to apply for tomorrow.

Have not looked into it but was wondering...

When you draw and get awarded,

What happens to tag if you do not purchase it?
Does the tag get used up? Do you get charge the price of the tag?

The whole ANTI thing got me thinking.

Personally, I only draw when I know 100% I can use it.

If you don't purchase it, the tag is not issued to anyone. This is why anyone that draws , should be charged immediately.

So basically, anyone can draw and clogged up the tags so there are less for people actually hunting?

Yes. This was the point of making everyone buy their wildlife certificate, at least they will get more money from the ANTI's and everyone else that continues to clog the system. That is what people aren't understanding. Re-evaluate this thread when the draw results are out and it shows less people put in because apparently they cant afford their wildlife certificate.....

Agree with this 100%. You win a draw you pay for it immediately - same as any other online purchase.
