Default How to use a scope

If only he'd have pulled the trigger after this photo was taken...

That soldier has to be dying (with laughter) inside. He's doing a good job of hiding it.

Standard SVD scope has (at least used to have) a thin soft rubber sleeve, so it is designed this way, you are right.
Maduro seems to pose with some kind of an aftermarket and by the look of it - it would hurt

You might be right - I can't tell if it has the rubber eyepiece or not.

Front lens looks much larger than the original to me

Just looked it up in the manual - ПСО-1 scope has 68mm of eye relief, it's pretty close to this rubber eye thing

Just for fun - here is a link to an old Soviet "shooting manual", has some retro pictures in it http://www.nastavleniya.ru/SVD/svd9.htm

Thanks Dick204. Always happy to learn something new about a red rifle.

I shot one with the "eye cup" before. It was mounted really high on a rifle that wasn't designed to be used with a scope, and I found it challenging.

That does not appear to be that kind of scope, and it kind of looks like he is holding the stock over his shoulder. (??)

Good catch 284. Was gonna mention that.

Man would it be cool to own a dragonuv

Hehe. Op / pic. Reminds me of the time at the farm. Was helping and had my 204 on hand for gophers. Wife's cousin comes along and asks if he can shoot. Sure. Pop cans set up by fence. I wasn't watching him cause he said he shot guns / rifles b4. Kissed and cut by the 204. Lol. Placed it right up to his eye.

And again last summer with m40 / 308. Work friend said knew what he was doing. And I was behind on spotting scope. 10" gong / 300 yards. Pretty severe cut. Nailed the target though.

But yeah. From now on I'll be watching closer.

It's not an original PSO-1 scope, and rifle looks modified - original Soviet one has ported wood and not plastic on a forearm. Could be some non-Soviet late modification?
Regardless just by the look of it his chin/face is way far forward in a relationship to the rifle.
