Default do people make a living kijiji remarketing? cars etc

Ive been looking in kijiji over the past year or so for another wagon to cruise around in and i have noticed a trend of a vehicle selling and often times at a higher price than normal then you see the vehicle pop up again in a diffent part of alberta for double the price? Some times they are even using the pictures from the previous ad.

Do people out there make a living doing this or something?

I know a couple people that make some side money doing it. Don't know anybody personally that makes a living off it.

I've been kinda looking for a 1 ton for a while, i see the same thing that you mention.

Every now and then i see one that catches my interest on a lot. Then it's gone for a while, shows up as a private sale, disappears for a while. Shows up at another lot. I am guessing some of these lot owners are one in the same and just move them along between a private sale and their lots. Price & description always changes but not by much. Higher $$$ mostly.

Be real hard to do it and make an even somewhat decent living. I imagine there's a few guys out there that do it, but most usually buy from auctions and flip on Kijiji. Most people who you see relisting vehicles for thousands more are just weekend curbers.

Maybe you're hot on the heals of an "organized" crime ring flipping hot vehicles.

Quite a few guys are making decent coin flipping local cars, trucks and RV's to the U.S. That's why you see the higher pricing at this end on many of the later higher end models. It's the low CanBuck that's making this profitable.

i've done it a couple of times on smaller items where the original owner wants to sell things as a package. I once got a sled, hand auger, new mr heater and 2 eskimo chairs for $80 bucks. the original owner wouldnt split and wanted to sell as package so i bought them. then i sold the heater for 80 bucks, the chairs for 30 and the hand auger for 30 and kept the sled.

I believe lots of people do it. Made several calls recently looking for a used car & it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

Yup. Met a truck broker off Kijiji by accident when purchasing a slip tank. Offered to buy my Duramax for pretty good coin. I also met a trucker (again, by accident on Kijiji) who hauled cars down to the States to be sold to take advantage of the low dollar. Said the people he was contracted by were shipping 40+ vehicles a week. Hence why it's so hard to buy a fairly priced used diesel in Alberta. All of 'em are going down south.

A person would have to be really busy to net $50k.

I haven't been able to attain that kind of income via kijiji.

if you can buy at the right price you should be making 4K for every flip.

it shouldn't be too hard to make 50K

I was always curious about this as generally most people cant really sell a car for more than they buy them for and i have seen people on kijiji buy stuff that is listed for a high price and try to sell it for even more. I know people that are mechanically inclined that can pick stuff that is broken and fix it then make a buck but the buying then selling the same thing seems odd. Hats off to the guy that can buy and sell some of the things i have seen remarketed, lol. I usually sell for whatever comes along after a week or so of trying to sell something

I've flipped all kinds of stuff.
Cars, trucks, and even a track hoe.
I also deal in a lot of smalls.

$4k per flip just isnt happening.

I have 8 years of records to show my work.

At 4K per flip that would be over 100 deals per year to net $50k.
There's more expenses to running this type of business than just the purchase of the item.
If you're home based, there's plenty of expenses to think about.
Again. 8 years of records.

It's not easy.

We have a system here at the local dump, it`s called the Swap Shed. Basically it`s stuff you don`t want or need anymore but is too good to chuck in the landfill. It used to work very well but then the scavengers rolled in. They will load up their old rusty truck with everything there, take it to town and either sell it at a second hand store or have a yard sale.I guess they make a buck but it sure screws up the concept.

Its not just cars and I would dare say those making a living are doing it on smaller items. If you click on the persons other ads, some have pages.

I have met a few making living and they claim the trick is to keep items moving and don't get greedy even if you could make 10 times the mark up over time.

People selling a thousand items at 2 dollars profit each is making the same money as someone selling one 10,000 truck. Folks come and pick the stuff up so there is no added expense other than purchasing.

One lady I met spends 6 hours a day 3 days a week online answering e-mails and refreshing ads. She also spends 2 days a week purchasing. Her husband works and they do extremely well for themselves. Obviously there could be some side stepping when it comes to tax time.

Try buying used tires and or rims on kijiji. Many have lists of tires that go far beyond what an ordinary person would do.

you aren't doing it right.

i sold cars for a while and i made 8k profit and up on a handful of them.

are you trying to say that you need $400,000 in revenue to make only 50K. you are doing something very very wrong
