Best floating line?
I have a 4 wt. rod, and usually cast size 10-12 flies. I am an intermediate caster. What do you suggest as a good floating line, as it's time for me to change. Thank you for the advise. Happy Fathers Day.

I use S/A sharkwave on my 3 and 8 wt. I really enjoyed Orvis hydros superfine on my 3wt untill it self destructed. But in all honesty alot of the super lines are made by S/A you really can't go wrong with whatever line you buy. Pick one give it a go if you dont like it sell it try a different brand.

Cortland 444 for a lower cost option or scientific Angler's Shockave Ultimate trout. I run them both. I like the Cortland in my 2>6 weight stream rods and use the Sci. Ang. Ultimate trout for long leader chironomid presentations.
Cortlandcan be found occasionally at $45>60.
Shockwave may run $ 120.00

Cortland is decent but way overpriced now. Spend 20 more you can get into some mid priced lines with better floatability and new technology. I mean in reality air cell works but there are better options for your hard earned $$$

In defence of Cortland lines. Bamboo Rod users by in large favor Cortland 444's. Now if you can afford a bamboo rod, you might expect that the owner would use the best line available. Silk is, of course, the best there is whereas Cortland is about the best in the mod-priced range.
Oh,and just so you know, when the Cprtland box says the line weight is....... You can bet the store that the right line weight as printed on the box is in the box.
Some line manufacturers are as much as two sizes off.
Regards,
Don
