Default Footholds on muskrat pushups

I've been having a lot of luck with rats around home.not worth alot but fun for the kids.but I've noticed that on alot of the mounds there is spots of coyote ****.thought maybe a foothold might work right on top? Anyone tried this or have any tips?

maybe do a straw set close by though. either use adrag log or chip a small hole through the ice and feed a toggle down to secure the trap.

there is a bit more info on the trapperman forum about setting up on the ice with foot holds.

I never tried it but I don't think it would work.
I think your trap would freeze down.
