Talking Gregg Lake/first weekend of 2016

Hi all,

My buddy took me to Gregg Lake to get into some whites. I have never really fished for them much in my life, and I have fished a lot. He did very well on Saturday, bagging 5 whites. I saw three.

Today I went up by myself and had better luck than yesterday. I only caught two, but I will have to work on my set for these whites. It's a lot different than fishing trout, pike, or walleye. I saw some big mommas checking out my wire worm and I had a pike take 5 grabs at it and I got him up to the hole but he got off.

All in all a good couple of days. I left early because of the sled party that showed up about 1pm. Just people having fun with their families, but I wasn't into listening to them rip around the lake. I will definitely be making that one of my favorite fishing spots since moving to the Edson area. I am also becoming addicted to the whitefish jig.

Good for you
That sounds like fun. Too far of a trip from Edmonton for whites...but you never know.

If you see 2 older guys posing with fish on a picnic table, say hi to Dave.

I have to agree but I like mine better cause I'm in them

Honestly people, Talbot whites are not hard to catch. And, the average size is pretty amazing. Add in that scenary, fly fishing for pike, and you have one of the best gems that Alberta has to offer.
