Default Sighting in Help

Hi everyone,

I bought a .30-06 a few months back, and haven't had the chance to get out and sight it in yet.

Is there anyone in the Edmonton area (Within an hour drive) that would be willing to take me to a range/shooting facility/crown land and helping me sight in my rifle? I am new to shooting but have been practicing dry firing it (ensuring it is unloaded and there is nothing in the chamber, of course!) and maintaining the target through the scope. I have 40 rounds waiting to be fired.

Anyways, let me know what days would work for you, and I will make my schedule work.

Thanks everyone!

Do you dry fire with a dummy round or not?

Using a dummy insures the guns unloaded and saves firing pin a bit.

No, I dont use a dummy round. I just count it as practice, as every time I cycle the action I double check the chamber and magazine to ensure it is empty. I chalk it up to good habit. And I wasn't aware it took a toll on the firing pin?

Thanks for the advice!

Dry firing isn't an issue with modern center fires.
