Smile My son's first pike!

Took my 6 year old out on the boat in Chestermere for a couple hours today, great day to be on the water. He caught his first pike, reeled it in by himself and I assisted getting it into the boat. Somehow, not sure how it happened, after we got the fish into the boat, the pike flipped and spit the hook and it ended up lodged in my son's leg (2 thumbs up for barbless hooks, made for a quick removal). After a few tears he manned up and posed for a quick picture. Released the fish unharmed and 10 minutes later, lands his second of the day! In 2 hours he outfished me 2 to my 1. Proud day for dad for sure!

X2 on the pants!

And yes, kids and fishing! I think I was more exciting for him than I have been for any fish I have ever caught! He's still basking in his glory this morning, wants to go fishing instead of going to school...
