Default Scope comparison Zeiss V4 or Leupold VX5-HD

As the title says, so I’m wondering which unit to go with. Both scopes are very similar, close in cost and both of good quality.

Zeiss V4 4-16 x 44. Made in a Japan
Leupold VX5-HD 3-15 x 44. Made in the US.

Are there any optic experts that could shed some light on my dilemma?

Thanks!

I'm no expert on scopes but I have a VX5 HD on my 257 WM and it is as good as it gets, can't find a thing that I don't like about it.
I also have 2 - Zeiss scopes, older models in the conquest line and they are also great, seriously you cant go wrong with either one of your above mentioned choices

I would not put to much weight on where the scope is made. Components for all Leupold a are brought in from Asia including glass. They are just assembled in the US.

The lower Leupold lines are made overseas, at least parts. The VX3i and above are made in USA. On the bottom of the VX3i says " USA-designed-machined and assembled "

Personal preference, really.
Not having looked through them, the Leupold is a bit lighter with more eye relief.
Of the two, for a hunting scope, I'd go with the Leupold and the 'fire-dot' reticle.

I had a great conversation with Omer at precision optics when I was shopping, went with the vx5Hd myself.

I called and spoke with Mike, he was great to talk to Omer was out but Mike said the same and that Omer definitely would point me to the VX5-HD. Especially if used for hunting.

Last year I wanted to replace my Vortex Crossfire scope. After spending a LOT of time looking at scopes I ended with a VX-R, 4-12, 50. I am very pleased with my purchase. It has excellent low light performance and doesn’t fog up like my vortex.
