Pretty much any taxidermy supply house sells antler stain. There are a couple places in Calgary... Select Taxidermy and AAA Supply House. The instructions come with it.

I use MINWAX wood finish stain - available from Home Hardware or Crappy Tire. You can get it in little 236 ml cans - which will do a lot of antlers. Costs under $10.00/can.

Start off staining the entire antler with 'Provincial #211", and then sparingly apply some '2716 Dark Walnut' to give it some darker highlights'. Use a rag to work it in, and count on your hands being stained brown for a few days.

Works for me!

A solution of water and Potassium permangunate will stain antlers brown(use rubber gloves). There is a product that Taxidermists use called "horn stain" I think. This question has been asked before and there was another substance but I forget what it was.

A word of caution, if your antlers are older and bleached out, putting antler stain on porous antlers can cause the stain to rapidly absorb into the antler bone tissue resulting in very poor looking "painted" antlers which will destroy the look of the antlers. The antlers in that case will absorb the stain like a sponge instead of just touching up the outside of the antlers like you are trying to accomplish. My recommendation is to try a small spot on the back of the antlers to see what the results will be like.

Mix up a batch of Taster's Choice instant coffee (with water). depending on the darkness of stain, weak or stronger. It takes some expiriminting to get it how you want it.

Clash, with the soap and water treatment you will lose some serious color....especially if you apply a little elbow grease.

What are you wanting to wash off...blood ??

spray them with a hose to clean em up, is potassium permanganate not purple in color when mixed with water, i would hesitate using this method and if you do use it on a antler that is worthless to you, you might get a set of purple antlers

You are only half right.

The mixture is purple but when dried turn just like freshly dried antlers that velvet came off of. some light sanding is required to get the points to the ivory colour.
