Me....Nothing big but I'm still hoping

Actually, I don’t think I’ve won a thing since!

Man, I feel old after telling this story.
I remember the first song I heard in Stereo blew me away

Won lots of stuff in the Legion fishing derbies back in the early 90’s. Four years in a row I managed to place in the top 3 for biggest Tyees. Second and third one year. First another. Best prize was a Lowrance Loran unit when they first came out, kind of the predessor to GPS but it ran off radio signals and wasn’t nearly as accurate. Was nice though when 10 miles offshore and the fog rolled in. Lots of knives, rod/reel combos, etc..

We got pretty lucky a few years in a row at DU too. Knives, pictures, ornaments, etc...

Nothing big though...

I'm kidding.... She really is beautiful, just doesn't kick me in the head....

Back on topic though - won 1st and 4th in our company Christmas Grinch (aka Booze) draw a couple of years ago. Got me 67 bottles in total to abuse my liver.....

Way back in the 90's when I had no time for the outdoors, I won a group trip to Miami, South Beach. Stayed in the Cardozo. Limo rides to dinner and clubs, VIP treatment all the way. Had a private jet pick us up and fly us to Atlanta for a supper and night out, then back to Miami.
That flight was the single coolest thing I remember about the whole trip. Being used to large commercial jets this thing taxied out to the runway and seemed to be vertical inside a minute. Flying towards the pan handle, looking out of the cockpit, you could see the storm cells ahead, and on the radar, seeing how the pilot would fly between, and around them was cool.
Oh yeah, there was a topless beach there too, but I don't remember that.

Back in 1960-1961 or 1962, I won a trip to the Seattle World's Fair in Seattle Washington, it was a contest for Manitoba newspaper delivery carrier's. Looking back there was about 20-30 of us riding the train out of Winnipeg thru to Vancouver, where we were put on buses to Seattle. Was a 10 day trip, taken during Easter break.

One of the coolest has to be a SxS Ugartechea shotgun in 28 gauge. There would also be several medals earned at the Alberta Summer Games in the shooting sports, a couple of trophies for Silhouette shooting, some cheques and cash for benchrest. But the best ever was 41 years ago when an angel accepted my marriage proposal.

Never won much, but back in 91 or so I did win a Milwaukee 9.6 v cordless drill set from Eecol Electric in Lethbridge. Sure liked that drill. It was in the boss's work van with my tools, and his 7 year old son got it in his head that our (power) tools were dirty one day, so he took them all in the bathtub and cleaned them up really nice with a brush, hot water, and Dawn. And they never got dirty again. Couldn't even be mad about a young guy like that having a care about our tools and wanting them to look nice.

On a vacation trip to Mexico I won around 4000 in Pesos playing blackjack. Really thought I hit it big until I looked at the exchange rate...

Default Winnings

I won $5500 on the sitewide brass pool at scotford a few years ago. At the time, I had been saving my cash and struggling on whether to buy a Honda rubicon or a skidoo tundra. I bought them both.

I won one major cool thing...a card game with the reaper. I won the fight against leukemia, so far so good. 7 years now.

I have also won a couple minor prizes...
-In the early 80's I came in first in an Alberta gold panning championship. then was invited to a Canadian panning competition. I came in 3rd there.
- I won at a casino last year. A 36 cent bet in a penny slot machine paid me almost ten grand.
