Default long weekend dino hunting

Not too shabby for what was supposed to be a raging downpour most of the weekend. A few showers none that heavy, at least til this afternoon. Slow fishing, for some, I guess we are just getting spoiled. Over the weekend we caught Walleye, suckers, Burbot, Goldeye, Mooneye, almost a big hairy beaver, and some sturgeons. Dago decided to go all out and tie his personal best fish the first evening , a beautiful fat 60 incher, biggest Ive tagged (and touched) to date! Easily over 50 pounds, who'dve thought out of Alberta!

end of his fight, fish got wrapped in the line too.
http://youtu.be/FK2WSN3cxaE

all kinds of sizes on the dinos, good to see small to tall showing up

Dago showing off again with a 57 incher, uploading video right now of the fight, it was awesome!

my best of the weekend, only 51 inches. yes I really am spoiled.

My lady finally managed too hook into a dino

Default few more pics

Oldman river dropped about 3 feet over the weekend, and fishing slowed way down, but the best is still to come! last year I got my tagging equipment after the main run, managed to tag 31 sturgeon. This year in the first week and a half Ive managed to tag 20 and plus find 3 repeat customers. My total is now 16 caught for the season, Im trying to go one for each day of the season, have to see how long that lasts, but Im shooting to catch 100 this year, to beat my 68 last year. so far so good.

Great job Wayne !
Hope you get an over or close to a 100 lb-er some day. Think the AB record is around 110 lb or so.

Hi Wayne,
With all your Dino experience, what would be a basic set up if a guy would want to have to go try his luck at catching a sturgeon ?

Thanks for any info !

I thought it might've been you. I replied asking for the details on the fish. So much for not talking to strangers. Haha!

medium heavy rod at the least, a large capacity reel with 50 pound Suffix 832, size 1 or 1/0 baitholder hooks, enough weight to stay on the bottom, and worms. and a well placed horseshoe some days

Well now, if your horseshoe is well placed, maybe someday you would win the lotto, and you be upgraded to ECCenTriC, instead of plain old strange

I'm hoping to head down to do some dino hunting on the weekend, Wayne.
