Default Laying Paper

Over the weekend I was stopped and checked by fish and feathers, which I thoroughly dislike but understand its importance. When the officer was asked about a trespass issue nearby that the landowner did not want to have charges filled he replied "I am not in the business of tongue lashings, I am in the business of laying paper". I was hoping their job was education, conservative and enforcement and that a good tongue lashing occasionally may expedite their mandate, but I may have been naive. I am hoping I took him too literally, but my experience leans the other way.

I'd say about 95% of my encounters with F&W have been pretty positive. We had finished fishing this last Saturday when F&W rolled up, expecting elk hunters. The officer, myself, and 2 buddies chatted for a while, and just before he drove away, he commented on the open beer that my friend's idiot brother had cracked and forgot about on the tailgate. The officer said alcohol wasn't allowed there (obviously), and this was just an FYI for next time. Honestly, I was surprised he never wrote up a ticket for open alcohol - this was in the new Castle Wildland Provincial Park. This officer was way more understanding than he had to be, and thankfully I've only had to deal with a couple of them over the years that weren't professional.

A few years back a f&w officer came out of nowhere for a compliance check while me and a buddy were fishing, after he found everything in order he kicked over a can of beer (like it was accidental) and said oops sorry about that and by the way open liqour is prohibited.
