Default Hornady Die question

Just a quick question for anyone with Hornady dies. I'm looking for the dimension (diameter) of the lock ring from flat to flat. Ie how wide the ring is across the top from flat side to flat side. Thanks.

I put hornady lock rings on all my RCBS dies, the set screw thing on RCBS dies always pulls the lock ring to one side of the die, also when tightened the set screw hits the die thread and slides to the path of least resistance often cocking the lock ring out of perpendicular alignment with the die body tilting the die when the lock ring contacts the press. I can't think of a sillier design for a lock ring.

Redding as you usually have to use a Vice Grip to turn them unless you have one of their tools. I have replaced all of the RCBS/Redding/Hornady lock rings with Forster as that is what my press uses . However the Hornady lock rings will work if I want punch primers.

I use Sinclair Stainless split rings, but have thought about switching.

The Sinclair Stainless look much like the Forster Rings and should be better on a standard press as they have to be locked. The Forster rings are aluminum and only lock on the die as they free float in the Forster Coax press. It looks like the Sinclair ones would fit the Redding Tool but switching to the Hornady ones you would be able to use a wrench.

The Sinclair ones have their own wrench. Which I have. I’ve used Forster ones as well, but there is no wrench made for them. I thought of switching for cost and availability of the Hornady ones, but it probably is better to stick with what I have.

You are right as the Sinclair ones would work great with the right wrench. If you don't have enough Sinclair rings then all you need if you get some Hornady rings is a 1 1/8" wrench. I used a small crescent wrench with wide opening jaws.
