First and foremost how much are you willing to spend? Antiques are not cheap plinkers and you will find the only inexpensive ones are the ones chambered in oddball calibers. There is a colt saa in 38spc for $4900 on gun nutz right now as well as one in 44spc for $7500. Both those guns would shoot great but are up there in price for shooters.

OP means things prescribed under Canadian Law, as of this writing, as antiques and are as such exempt from PAL requirements etc as opposed to a firearm that has existed for 100yrs+. Matchlock, wheel lock, flint lock ignition. These are all long guns and muzzleloaders. Black powder shooting is great and much fun! Plenty of sources online and in person to get black powder, black powder substitutes along patches, ball etc. You may even get into casting your own projectiles! It's a truly unique experience with a pace and style all its own. Best way to start is to get out to some muzzloader/black powder shooting events in your area and/or contact a local club to see what they have going on for blackpowder. Try some guns and if you are looking about online, check out some of the fine reproductions coming out of Italy such as are made by Pedersoli.

Default antiques

I think he's talking about cartridge firearms not flints or cap + ball. Modern replicas still require a license for these.Nothing stopping the Gestapo from waking up one morning and deciding on a whim they should be prohibited at some future date.We are soon to be living in a Socialist police state.

actually a cap or flint lock would be nice. mostly I want to be able to shoot when and where I want not be forced to join a range just to shoot .I have a nice place my friends and I like to go to it can just be more fun .
