The link has it partially right.
Loading a snare is also called training. But the two are not the same thing.
Training a snare is intended to make a round loop where the loop tends to be oblong. Loading is to encourage the snare to close easier or faster.
The intention is to make the snare close the way you want it to. And to make the loop easier to position and less susceptible to movement due to wind ext.
The technique involves drawing the snare over a wooden dowel or similar object in order to impart a gentle curl to the wire. The rate of curl determines whether the loop is simply more round or if it makes the loop want to close.
The two terms are used for both objectives but it is my understanding that training and loading are lesser and greater levels of the same technique.
It all becomes a bit confusing when one considers that either will encourage a loop to close at least to some degree. And both will increase the roundness of the loop.
A word about the technique. This is an artform, not easy to learn.
There is no exact formula, it's more a matter of personal preference and several other factors, like species targeted, wire or cable to be used, type of environment ext.
