Default wthby breaks in the stw on elk

got to the honey hole early in the morning. snuck into position while moving like stealth ninja reaking of cow elk urine.

set up on a "T" intersection downwind of where i knew the elk would cross. waited about 10 minutes then did a small series of chirps with the hootchie momma. nothing. another 10 minutes goes by and i do the same thing. i thing this time though i hear a distant chirp but not to sure. all of a sudden to my cross wind of me. i estimate about 400 yds a bull lets loose a long loud bugle with a series of chuckles at the end. all of a sudden about 700 yds down the upwind portion of the tee intersection i see heads starting to pop out of the bush. 7 cow elk line up the cutline. to far for a shot i begin to do some more calling with the hootchie. they are interested and start to come closer but the lead cow is edgy and the move quickly into the bush. i wait ten minutes and do a nother set of calling. again the bull answers back but no chuckles this time. all of a sudden the 7 cows show up 250-300 yds cross wind on the cutline in the direction of the bull. the lead cow again looking for love or on edge quickly moves into the bush. but the hootchie stops the rest of the hear and the STW takes down the next biggest cow. see went about 200 feet after the 140gr tsx double lunged her.

Congrats! I managed to get my first elk ever on Monday (5X5 bull!). I'm not sure what it dressed, but the rear half weighed in at 173lbs, and the neck and front quarters once boned out came in at about 100lbs. Bite me Safeway this winter! I'm happy for ya and I too have pulled out the ivorys! Anyone know the story on them? I hear they are from prehistoric times. Nice cow man!
