The point being that despite the propaganda aimed at convincing us that the USA is so much more dangerous, the fact is, that for the first half of 2018, the homicide rate is higher in Toronto, than it is in New York. Canadians are generally seen as being more friendly, and less dangerous than Americans, but that doesn't change the homicide stats for Toronto. Obviously, our laws, and our legal system, is not doing any better at preventing homicide than the laws and the legal system in New York.

Given that an "incel" accounts for about 25% of "murders in Toronto", your extrapolations are suspect.

This really sucks, as it seems antis use these numbers and examples of gang gun violence to trumpet tougher gun restrictions that effect us as hunters.

Badger does have a point in that Toronto’s year to date death stats will have been highly skewed by the Toronto van attack. Elk has a point that Toronto’s level of gang violence is unacceptable. There have been a significant amount of shootings there but they’re largely confined to the gang demographic, so in that regard it’s not such a bad thing when bad guys kill other bad guys rather than when decent law-abiding people are the victims. I propose that the gangs be pursued aggressively and be either imprisoned (or permanently deported when that’s an option), the thing that needs the most change is the legal system to actually keep these types incarcerated instead of “We’re sorry about your difficult childhood, here’s early release and an ineffective rehabilitation program to not attend. Please try not to kill and wound others again, we know those 7 separate instances that you’ve been convicted of violence don’t reflect your character”

Actually New York State and even more so in NYC have some of the strictest gun laws in the US and in some areas they are more restrictive than ours here in Canada.
