Default Boat Insurance.

Wondering where guys are getting their insurance on their boats? I'm talking stand alone insurance, not covered under a home policy.

I have mine with NautiMax through Aviva as it was cheaper than a couple other places I looked, but I am considering shopping it around again.

I'm going thru Western Financial, $300 a year for 2 mill liability. The cabin we rent in BC with a dock needs us to be insured so that's why we got it but it covers almost everything & seems cheap

Bumping this one back up as I found a good option I thought I would share. Portside Marine out of Calgary was significantly cheaper than NautiMax through Aviva for the same (or slightly better) coverage. My new boat is running me $538/yr with a value of $75k. That’s nearly half of NautiMax.

I dealt with Kristene there and she was great.

Default Liability canceled through AMA

AMA phoned me and cancelled my boat Insurance for liability and said they dont do that anymore; it was included with my house. They said its still covered if boat gets damaged or stolen.. but not covered under liability.
