Default Who knows their mushrooms?

I know nothing about mushrooms, even though I have many kinds at home.

Any recommended books?

Found these tonight, and they look delicious

I am like you....I know nothing about mushrooms but from my old outdoor ed textbook they look like death caps.

Probably not very tasty.

I am not a mycologist by any means but I do harvest a couple of dozen varieties of mushrooms every year. I don't recognize that as one of my edibles so I would leave it alone. Do not think that it is a death cap though.

Bit of a co-incidence. I'm spending a couple hours today looking for some late season Bolete's (red tops), or some early season Honey Mushrooms.
What you have picked looks like it could be a young Russula like Waxy Cap, a Grisett (aka Destroying or Deaths Angel), or even a common Psathyrella.
My advise would be do not eat it, or any others that look like it.
