Default How Many Junior Partners?

I have been doing some digging but can't seem to find the answer... how many junior partners can a person have on a trap line?

I think you can only have as many junior partners as the area fur management biologist will authorize. I think there still is an RFMA partnership form to fill out which must be approved yearly.

Hope I'm not out of date with the info. Please correct and update me if I'm wrong.

F&W has no say in how many junior partners you have, that's completely up to you.

That's the problem. It all depends who you have to deal with. It seems there are to many rule books out there. I'm limited to one while the next guy can have as many as he wants. We have a new district officer now so maybe I will ask next time I see him.

x2 on how to be a junior. I have seen posts and have posted myself, also ads in the Alberta trapping magazine. I have had no responses but luckily have a senior that I have trapped with directly and that hopefully will turn into a good networking or reference opportunity. Talk to as many trappers as you can, I find they are a great bunch but its a process that Environment and parks is looking at addressing, the whole RFMA procedure.

Take the trapping course, join your local trapping association, talk to RFMA owners and see who needs help.

The area Biologists are now loooking after ALL RFMA administration. They are in the process of standardizing Province wide regulations and policies. Tightening up some loose ends etc..

Last I heard from our Biologist you can have as many Juniors as you want. The Juniors now on an RFMA MUST either have been a Junior partner previously to be signed on or have completed the ATA Trapping Course. No exceptions in our area so I am sure it will be a Province wide requirement which I think is a good thing.

Guys, one or two juniors on typical sized line is the norm. When lots of juniors signed on line it is most probably so they can all use the hunting lodge.

I've experienced this as well. Two officers say two different things about any given situation or issue. It gets tiring and it's a reason why people hate fish and wild life officers around here.

They try to enforce their opinions and beliefs, not the law.

They will say things like "well we don't want you to do that" or "we discourage that" or "well like to see people do it this way". If you don't know what to watch for, you mistake this for them stating the law.

Everyone has to realize that F&W officers will play by their individual rules or beliefs and it differs office to office. Ask them for these rules of one junior per line in writing. It will never happen.

And this is why people hate officers. And it needs to change.
