Noticed another online auction with the items local to Edmonton. Closes in 3 days.

There are a few things that might go for next to nothing. I noticed a diesel powered light plant on wheels and the bid is only 700 bucks. Atco camp type skid shacks for pretty cheap. Also is 5x5 wooden shack ideal for an ice fishing shack and the bid is 11 bucks. Lots of welding related tools and racks.

Ordered one at that sale price but they were out of stock. Received a notification they would ship when they had stock. Amazon actually shipped one to me from Washington, arrived today. Quite a stove for under $50

Default My lucky day!

I was in Canadian tire South Edmonton Common yesterday getting some brakes for my son and decided to check out the sporting goods section.

First browsed the firearms, then moved on to the fishing tackle department, that’s where I came across the deal of the century! There, locked up in the glass showcase was a Shimano Calcutta 400B, the tag on the shelf said “Clearance $74.98” I think I ran to the salesman and told him I wanted that reel, so we went back to the showcase where he proceeded to unlock it and remove my reel. We went to the till at the sporting goods desk and that’s when he said “Oops, I can’t sell you this reel for that price”. I said what do you mean? It was locked in the showcase with a clearance tag for $74.98??? He said I’ll call the manager. He got off the phone and said “I can sell it to you for $289.00”, I said no thanks, I’m going to go talk to the manager. So I went downstairs and got the manager, brought her up to the sporting goods section, showed her where the reel was locked up in the showcase and told her where the clearance tag was (now it was removed though), and she said “Ok, come with me I’ll ring it through for you”.

Happy Day for me, I’ve been looking for a good deal on a Calcutta for probably over a decade, I haven’t found a used one for under $100, so yesterday’s find was awesome.

Canadian Tire Edmonton Windermere is clearing out a bunch of their old-stock rifles/shotguns and they do have a few left. For example I saw the following on the shelf still:

A few Winchester XPR with MOBU stock, $399 for .270 Win and $379 for 7mm RM

A Remington 700 SPS blued/synthetic in 300Win Mag for $499

A beautiful Ruger Hawkeye Compact Walnut stock (16.5" barrel) in 7mm-08, $699 or $799 I think.

A few Savage 16/116 and other package rifles.

They also have some Federal Fusion and Sako Hammerhead ammo on sale for about 25-30% off per box.

not sure if Canadian Tire is part of this, but I believe most box stores are. In Theory you should have got an extra $10.00 of the price.

Scanner price accuracy policy states –

-if the scanned price is higher than the shelf or advertised price, the lower price will be honoured
-if the correct price is $10 or less, the product is free.
-if the correct price is higher than $10, there is a discount of $10 off.

Most retailers are not actually and there os nothing that really says they need to comply unless they have it 8n their own olicy. Many will help you out and some just say sorry mistakes happen. Good deal on this onf though.

Smoking deal on that reel. Well done, Kurt!

Rancho RS5000 Series Performance Shock Absorbers are on clearance in Canadian Tire starting at $4.95, lol (down from starting at $79.99). Doubt they have too many but worth a try going to the store and seeing if they have what you need if you need shocks. Not the best shocks out on the market, but doubt you can beat $5 bucks per.

Correct. Not all retailers abide by the scanning code of conduct. It is optional.

Just stopped at the local CT to check out what’s on clearance thinking if by some chance the shocks on clearance fit my vehicle, I would grab a set even though I do not currently need shocks. Anyway, was told that the website is probably playing a joke on me. The guy could not believe it even when I showed it to him on my phone. Nothing at our store is at this price.

I posted this on the trapping forum but thought this thread is appropriate too. It's another time sensitive online auction. Items located at Drayton Valley.

Thought I would mention this only because it has several lots with good assorted outdoor equipment and trapping gear. Sadly it brings the end to an outdoorsman's time on the land. Bob the Trapper passed in 2018.

This online auction that ends on August 24th mentions that items are part of the late Robert "Bob the Trapper" (legend of Agnes Lake) Gerbrandt's estate . There is a nice hide fleshing machine and lots of misc. traps and supplies, some hunting related gear amongst other nice equipment that is for sale. Worth scrolling through.

Walmart seems to be getting out of ammo sales, 60% off. 2 down south here have already cleared out stock and removed the cabinets.

NAPA has Mobil 1 5W30 4.7 litre jugs on for $39 till Aug 31. That is about half price. They have a bunch of other high end oils on 50% off till Aug 31.

Starting Sept 8th for a week they have their NAPA Gold filters on for 50% off. This means they cost about what a Walmart Fram does and all NAPA filters are made by WIX so they are excellent quality compared to the atomic orange Frams and the like. Just watch some of the Youtube videos comparing filters and you will see what I mean.
