Default Fishing pressure along the trunk

I've got five days with no wife and no kids....wondering if it's worth heading down the trunk from Nordegg over the weekend? Has it been jam packed like last year?

20+ campers in the old government campground at the north ram on the trunk road crossing on Tuesday.
Add to that the fact that they are kicking people out of the bighorn dam area because of high discharge from Abraham...I suspect the area will be a zoo this weekend...
Not telling you to stay away...just be prepared to have a lot of company....

Drove the trunk road today and saw very few boondockers, but once I hit 752 the trailers, motorhomes and ATVs were like a convoy

Is this typical for weekends around there or is it due to the covid situation.

It’s gotten busier and busier since Nutbar Notley and her crew pushed the park agenda. Add in Covid and folks moving north to avoid the K-Country fees and we now have full blown chaos up there.

Cool

O great. I was hoping it would have quieted down a little compared to last year.
Perhaps next year it will improve.

It is quieter than last year. Been up 752 to the S. Ram several times this year. Maybe 50% of last year.
Most of them are piston heads rarely bothering to fish.
Several of the campgrounds have switched from Govt to Club operations. No charge as far as I can see.

I think the "club" is called the Friends of the Eastern Slopes.
They'd like you to buy a membership which will help them in their efforts to keep the campsites up and running(e.g. Elk Creek). The website is foesa.ca i believe.

Don
Certain areas may quieter than last year, but the Nordegg area sure isn’t.

That’s good to hear. I couldn’t get over all the traffic down the trunk road last year. I heard people were even camping in the ditches around Nordegg, leaving garbage and crap all over.

We decided to go south after all. Fished from the North Ram down to the Red Deer near Ya-Ha Tinda. Was definitely quieter from Sunday afternoon on. Fishing was good...but the garbage and toilet paper was out of control. Almost every little camp spot was littered with so much crap it was depressing. I could have easily filled the box of the truck with garbage.

FYI, it’s foesa.org
