Why don't you go to Tim Hortons and buy a couple dozen honey glazed donuts? If the bears don't want them you can take them home to the family.

He's up in Valleyview hunting right now, he didnt realize that he needed some good bait before he went. Is looking for something close by Valleyview. I told him Trapper Gords before I posted.

Yes, Trapper Gord is a great option, short drive from VV. Most years however he is out of beaver by now but worth a call. Might get lucky. Personally I am not a fan of Stinky meat baits. Bears have great noses and can smell popcorn, honey or licorice just as far as they can smell rotten meat. People just think rank bait works better because they can smell it much better. I would much rather sit over a sweet smelling bait. If bears aren't hitting oats and honey, rotten meat won't bring them in. The issue is usually new baits that bears haven't located yet. Need to lay some frier fat trails to the bait.

Along with all baits that we hauled in we also had

pure anise oil with us.

This stuff would bring them in.

Its got a licorice smell to it.

When I throw dried chunks of beaver bait from traps into 2-3 feet of snow by cabin, my springer dog will locate/smell everyone of them through snow and eat them. Fresh now dry beaver no smell I can detect. Bear has better nose than dog.
