Thumbs up Bow River; March 30th, 2012

After working all night, I hit the Bow with Silverdoctor(Robert) early this morning. We managed some nice rainbows, one nice brown & a few whitefish before the wind started blowing real hard, straight down the river; figured that was a good time to call it a day. We got a few pics of some of the better fish.

Didn't get any pics of the minnow sized whiteys. Great pics as always Steve, should do it again sometime. Was a good day out, weather aside.

Love those brownies

This little 'Ice Cream Cone Chironimid' was the fly of the day...

This would not have been a good place to sit for a rest; huge ant hill!

It was great fishing with you today, Robert; let's do it again, my Newfie brother!

Yeah, a couple of those whites were cigar-sized.
Weather wasn't perfect, but at least we got off the water before the rain/snow hit!

...and, yeah, we'll get out again, fo' sho'!

Next time, maybe we can head out of town to one of Jeff's spots; y'know, in order to avoid the crowds. (BTW, Jeff, we saw one other fisherman & he was on the other side of the river..)

Oh the ant hill, figured for sure you'd be getting bitten on the way back to the car... Had to look those up, never seen them before. The Allegheny Mound Ant and apparently thriving here in Canada. Vicious from what people say.

Some good karma in that Rapala hat, Chubb!
Besides, it's fun to wear it ironically whilst fly fishing; makes the elitists all twitchy, y'know!
BTW, I realized I'd seen that brown before...
Pic from yesterday...

My buddy, Rick, 3 weeks ago in the exact same spot...

Closer view, yesterday...

The lighting is different, but the spot pattern is an exact match; nice to see catch & release pay off!

I would totally wear a Powerbait hat whilst fly fishing! Not sure it would have the good karma that the Rapala hat has, though...

Speaking of a fish's "smart factor"...
I caught this cutty twice within 10-15 minutes last year; same fly, same spot.
A week later, my buddy caught him. Next week, I got him again. He may just have been desperate for human contact???

Ya gotta have a lucky hat; especially when you depend on pure luck(as opposed to skill) as much as I do!
